The Memphis Police Department is calling for the public's assistance following a spate of auto burglaries reported on New Year's Eve at 5050 Poplar Avenue, home to the I-Bank building. According to a recent social media post by the department, several vehicles were subjected to break-ins and vandalism in the parking lot around 8:40 a.m.
The suspects, who have yet to be apprehended, were caught on the business's surveillance cameras. They were seen in a white four-door sedan, which might also be connected to another auto burglary that occurred at 799 Truse Parkway, indicated by report number 2412030918ME. Unfortunately, these criminal acts are yet another notch in the bedpost of the city's ongoing battle against property crime.
In their attempt to capture the perpetrators, the Memphis Police Department has attached the video of the incident to their Facebook post. They urge anyone with information to step forward and contact Crime Stoppers at 528-CASH. Informants will receive a secret ID number and assurance that their identity will remain anonymous.
Memphis residents can also submit tips through the Crime Stoppers website or use the ‘P3 Tips’ mobile app, which allows for secure and anonymous communications with investigators. If an arrests is made based on a tip-off, the informant could be eligible for a cash reward, courtesy of Crime Stoppers of Memphis and Shelby County, Inc. As the investigation is ongoing, the police appreciate every piece of information that could lead to a resolution.
