Missouri's Governor Mike Parson has named Mick Campbell as the interim head of the state's Department of Commerce and Insurance (DCI), with the role taking effect on the first day of the new year. Campbell, the Commissioner of Finance for DCI since mid-2023, is stepping up to fill the soon-to-be-vacant position as the current Director, Chlora Lindley-Myers, heads into retirement tomorrow.
In a move inspired by his previous service commitments, Campbell was selected for the acting director position, having joined the Division of Finance way back in 2004. "We have announced that Mick Campbell will serve as acting director of the Department of Commerce and Insurance for the remainder of our administration," Governor Parson said as per the release. Having received his MBA and Bachelor's in Administrative Management from Missouri State University, Mick is as Missouri as they come, a native of the town of Mt. Vernon.
According to a recent announcement from the governor's office, Craig was chosen for his impressive leadership qualities and the confidence the governor has in him to steer the DCI. Governor Parson expressed his gratitude to Campbell for stepping into the role of Commissioner of Finance in 2022 and now, answering this latest call to leadership.
The track record of Campbell within Missouri’s financial oversight sectors speaks to his tenured experience. Beginning his service as Acting Commissioner since January 2022 and previously holding the title of Deputy Commissioner before his appointment, that Mick has been entrusted with these escalating responsibilities is no coincidence, considering his notable history with the state division.
