Due to the extreme cold, the City of Milwaukee Department of Public Works (DPW) has temporarily suspended sanitation services, including garbage and recycling collections. A Facebook post from the City of Milwaukee informed residents to continue setting out their carts as usual despite the service disruption.
The post stated, "Out of an abundance of caution and protection of our staff health and safety, due to cold and wind chill temperatures, Sanitation Services will be called off today."
DPW assured residents that extended hours would be worked to ensure all scheduled services are completed by the end of the week, with teams potentially working through Saturday to finish the collections.
