
The Minneapolis Police Department reported a successful apprehension of a car thief on New Year's Day. According to the department's social media post, a suspect was caught in the act of breaking into and attempting to steal a vehicle by stripping its console.
The law enforcement officers were quick to respond to the initial theft report and managed, to locate the suspect in a nearby alley where they detained him. Subsequently, they found the vehicle's owner, providing an expeditious resolution to the crime. "Thanks to quick action by our officers, a car thief was stopped in its tracks because of a tip from a conscientious resident and quick action by Minneapolis’ Finest," the post praised the community and police effort.
The suspect, whose identity has not been disclosed, was arrested for probable cause auto theft and booked at Hennepin County Jail.
Reiterating the importance of community engagement, the Minneapolis Police Department reminded residents through their post, "Let this be a reminder to always report suspicious activity immediately—it makes a difference!"
