The Murfreesboro community has come together in support of a 5-year-old girl, Olivia Rose Nwaise, who is in a "very critical condition" following a tragic car accident that claimed the life of her stepfather Sylvio Victor, 35, of Antioch. The collision, which occurred on Monday on Middle Tennessee Boulevard, involved a Mazda MZ6 carrying the child and Victor and a Nissan Rogue. According to FOX 17, the Mazda was trying to make a left turn onto Middle Tennessee Boulevard when the crash happened.
In the aftermath of the incident, the Murfreesboro Police Department has been investigating the cause of the crash. WSMV reported that responders found Victor deceased at the scene and had to extricate the critically injured girl from the Mazda. The child and the female driver of the Mazda were subsequently taken to Vanderbilt University Medical Center, while the driver of the Rogue was transported to Ascension Saint Thomas Rutherford Hospital. Possibly, speed is being looked into as a contributing factor of the fatal crash.
The local gymnastics community, where Olivia Rose was known and loved for her vibrant personality, has been particularly shaken by the event. ETC Gymnastics owner Ken Harris voiced his deep concern for the girl, describing her as "like a little light running around the gym." In a WKRN interview, Harris also shared the close bond between Olivia Rose and her stepfather, saying, "She thought of him like a father" and "When he was up in the bleachers watching her, she beamed even brighter. She was excited. She would say, ‘Daddy, watch me!'"
As part of the outpouring of support, a GoFundMe page has been set up to assist the affected family. Coaches, parents, and others in the community are asking, "How can we help out? What can we do?" reinforcing the familial spirit of the local gym and wider community. The fundraising initiative has seen hundreds of responses, demonstrating the community's solidarity in times of need. Individuals seeking to contribute to the support efforts for the family can find the donation page linked in the report by WKRN.
