
Nashville has seen a disquieting trend of late, with three more students—each in separate incidents—arrested on accusations of making threats against schools, an announcement made today brings the awareness of a persistent reality that threats against educational institutions are not just pranks or idle words but potential preludes to real tragedy, this according to the Nashville Police Department. The individuals, two 13-year-olds and one 14-year-old were charged with making threats of mass violence in unrelated threats against various schools in the region.
Per information from the Nashville Police Department, one threat emanated from a 7th grader at Valor Flagship Academy who admitted to concocting threats to intimidate his peers, while a second incident involved a 13-year-old from Haynes Middle School who used Instagram to broadcast a vicious threat that included the prospect of shooting up multiple schools, he also carried a record of similar transgressions in the past, punctuating a pattern.
Lastly, a 14-year-old H.G. Hill Middle School student was implicated after a photo of a gun was sent to another student, with additional learners reporting he had made verbal threats about planning a school shooting. These cases are being processed through the Juvenile Court system, with the Haynes Middle School student facing an additional charge of making a false report.
