In a move to assist businesses clawing their way back from the underbelly of the Bourbon Street terrorist attack, New Orleans officials have announced the opening of Business Recovery Centers (BRCs). These centers, supported by the U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA), aim to provide a lifeline to enterprises within Orleans Parish and neighboring areas like Jefferson, Plaquemines, St. Bernard, and St. Tammany, as reported by the City of New Orleans.

The recovery initiative includes Economic Injury Disaster Loans (EIDL) tailored to aid small businesses and nonprofit groups impacted by the disaster. According to the City of New Orleans, loans can notch up to $2,000,000 based on an economic injury assessment, fixed at 4.000% interest rates for small businesses, and 3.625% for non-profits.

The SBA's BRCs are strategically placed at the Palace Cafe and the New Orleans Public Main Library. The centers are reachable for personalized assistance on weekdays and also operate with specific hours on the weekends. Notably, the centers remain shut on federal holidays, including the impending Martin Luther King Jr. day.
