On the night of New Year's Day, a scene erupted outside the In-N-Out Burger on Foothill Boulevard in Rancho Cucamonga, where an argument between a man and a woman led to shots fired, ensuing panic, and subsequent arrests, as noted by the SBSD Rancho Cucamonga Police Department. According to the authorities, Virginia De La Rosa and Eduardo Coliz Salcedo, both 27 and residing in Apple Valley, were involved in a dispute that quickly escalated beyond heated words.
Deputies arrived on the scene after a call came through at about 11:04 P.M., where they discovered the pair with two small children. During the altercation, a handgun was discharged and what transpired left an indelible mark on bystanders. The SBSD Rancho Cucamonga Police Department detailed that Salcedo assaulted De La Rosa who was then compelled, with the child in their arm, to reenter their vehicle and attempt to flee, their exit marked by the sound of a gunshot while driving away, the vehicle not making it far before a traffic stop. Local officials indicated that both De La Rosa and Salcedo were taken into custody, with Salcedo facing charges including Willful Discharge of a Firearm with Gross Negligence and Child Abuse, while De La Rosa was booked on DUI offenses.
