The blaze, which was reported at approximately 2:55 a.m. in the 3300 block of Southwest 63rd Avenue, was aggressively tackled by firefighters upon their arrival, they discovered formidable flames threatening to expand their reach beyond the home's parameters into its vicinity, as stated in Local 10 News.
Despite the gravity of the fire, which resulted in significant damage to several cars parked outside the residence, no spread to adjacent homes occurred and, remarkably no physical injuries were reported although the home itself faced the brunt of the devastation, potentially being regarded as a total loss, as CBS News Miami reported. Residents of the afflicted household were awakened by the acrid smell of smoke and perilous flames that sentinel-like, beckoned them to a prompt and vital escape.
"So when I jump to open the door. The door cannot open the door. And that big blazing fire coming right through," detailed Derrick Howe, the homeowner, in a statement obtained by CBS News Miami. It was an oversights that may have saved lives; the family's agility enabled by their impromptu alarm, which allowed them to evade the inferno's voracious appetite unscathed.
