The Norman Police Department is currently in a state of bereavement over the loss of Master Police Officer Jenny Bryan, who bravely faced and ultimately succumbed to cancer. In a statement obtained by KOCO 5, Police Chief Kevin Foster said, "The loss of Jenny is profound. She faced her battles with cancer with extraordinary courage, just as she approached every day in service to our community. Her dedication and spirit leave a lasting impact on our department."
In the face of the adversity that cancer brought, Bryan is said to have fought with the same strength and resilience that characterized her eight years of service to the NPD and the Norman community. According to KFOR, Bryan's service included time spent as an instructor on various special teams following her graduation from the 54th Norman Police Academy.
The department has chosen to honor Bryan by placing her police vehicle in front of the Norman Police Department at 112 W. Daws St., a gesture that invites community members to pay their respects. "We will forever be grateful for Jenny’s many contributions, impacts, and friendship," Chief Foster said in a release shared by KSWO. "Jenny will be deeply missed and remembered always."
Mourning extends beyond the police department into the wider community. Bryan, who was not only a master police officer but also a single mother of four, was a well-regarded figure among Norman residents. Many have acknowledged the parallel between her dedication to recovering her own health and her commitment to safeguarding the community she served. The public is welcomed to visit the temporary memorial and to leave items commemorating her service and legacy.
