The Oakland Police Department (OPD) has made significant strides in dismantling an illegal gambling ring. The operation, conducted by OPD’s Special Resources Sections (SRS) East and West teams, targeted illicit activities in the 1000 block of E. 12th Street. This initiative was a response to a series of violent incidents that had recently plagued the neighborhood, as per the Oakland Police Department.
With multiple search warrants executed yesterday, the operations during their search uncovered an unlicensed casino operation, a hub furnished with unlicensed gaming machines and harboring illegal firearms, narcotics, and a substantial cash pool. The officers also took into custody a suspect with a pending warrant for a previous shooting in Oakland.
