Tragedy struck Phoenix on the night of December 27, 2024, when 35-year-old Ethan Felix, a father of five, was fatally struck by a vehicle in an act deemed intentional. The suspect, 38-year-old Miguel Preciado Jr., was arrested on December 30, 2024, after authorities located his car in a deserted area near Tucson, as reported by FOX 10 Phoenix. Further details emerged as Preciado Jr. was found following a distress call he made due to dehydration.
Sgt. Brian Bower of the Phoenix Police Department told FOX 10 Phoenix, "While the vehicle was being processed, additional Pima Sheriff Deputies located Miguel several miles away and were able to take him into custody without incident." Preciado Jr. appeared in court on New Year's Eve, stands accused of first-degree murder among other felonies, and has been given a $2.5 million bond. This marks a chilling close to what began as a peaceable evening near 16th Street and Thomas Road.
In a statement obtained by 12 News, Ethan's father, Brian Felix, recounted the harrowing details of the incident, "I was told that he was hit by a vehicle, [got] caught between his vehicle and that other person's vehicle." Brian Felix added, "At which time he was being assaulted, stabbed and that consequently caused him to lose consciousness." The family, while planning to celebrate a milestone wedding anniversary, instead had to face the reality of identifying their son's body.
As the investigation continues, both the Phoenix Police Department and the Felix family urge anyone with information to come forward. Brenda Felix implored, "Please do not let this person or persons get away with this," in an interview with 12 News. The family has also established a GoFundMe to assist with expenses during this difficult time. Silent Witness accepts anonymous tips at 480-WITNESS or 480-TESTIGO.
