
A grim commencement to the New Year shook a Phoenix community as 32-year-old Edi Ruiz was found dead in his apartment on New Year's Eve, having succumbed to a fatal gunshot—an incident that police have quickly acted upon, leading to the arrest of a suspect. According to FOX 10 Phoenix, authorities were called to the scene around 5 p.m. in the vicinity of Cave Creek and Greenway roads where they discovered Ruiz's body.
Phoenix Police Sgt. Brian Bower disclosed in a statement obtained by FOX 10 Phoenix, "Homicide detectives worked decisively throughout the first 24 hours to identify, locate and arrest a man for the deadly shooting of 32-year-old Edi Ruiz," marking a swift reaction by law enforcement to the tragic event.
The subsequent investigation led to the apprehension of 22-year-old Jose Gonzales-Hernandez on New Year's Day. He now faces charges of second-degree murder, securing his confinement behind bars as the judicial process takes its course, as per AZFamily
