According to FOX 10 Phoenix, at approximately 3:40 p.m. on Saturday, Laura Bigelow was found lifeless in front of her car near Central and South Mountain avenues. The Phoenix Police Department responded to the distressing scene, where Bigelow was pronounced dead.
In their ongoing inquiry into the harrowing ordeal, preliminary information gathered by Phoenix Police suggests that Bigelow had parked the vehicle in a nearby parking lot and for reasons still obscure, the car became mobile, striking her while she was at least partially out of it. "Preliminary information suggests that Bigelow parked her vehicle in a nearby parking lot. For unknown reasons, while Bigelow was at least partially out of the vehicle, the vehicle became mobile and struck Bigelow causing the serious injuries," Sgt. Robert Scherer stated, as reported by FOX 10 Phoenix. Witnesses on scene indicated that only Bigelow was near the vehicle when it became mobile. Impairment is believed to be a factor.
Over at 12 News, details emerged that the incident took place in the early hours of the morning, around 3:30 a.m. When officers arrived, they discovered Lauren Bigelow in a critical state in front of the vehicle. She suffered severe injuries and was declared deceased at the scene by the fire department.
