Authorities are conducting a homicide investigation following the discovery of 52-year-old Ted Vasquez, found deceased in his Phoenix residence this past Saturday. Vasquez was located after a welfare check was requested for his home near 59th Avenue and Palm Lane; police suggest he may have succumbed to a gunshot wound, however, details pertaining to the events leading up to his death remain unclear, and the authorities have not yet detained any suspects in connection with the case, as reported by FOX 10 Phoenix.
In an unrelated but concurrent Phoenix case, almost eight months after the shooting death of 37-year-old Paul Lopez Jr., Phoenix Police have apprehended and charged Raymond French, age 25, with second-degree murder, as 12 News reports; Lopez was fatally shot multiple times during the evening of May 5, 2024, following an altercation with two individuals and the case breakthrough came from collecting discarded items, perusing video evidence, and witness statements leading to French's identification.
French, who was taken into custody last Friday in connection with another investigation on the Gila River Indian Community, has now been booked into jail. The Phoenix Police Department credited the collaboration and communication between its local and federal partners—including the Gila River Police Department, Chandler Police Department, Mesa Police Department, and the FBI—for the successful arrest, according to a press release.
