In a bid to address criminal activities along 82nd Avenue, the Portland Police Bureau (PPB) recently conducted a crime interdiction mission that affected the stretch of road between Northeast Lombard Street and Northeast Glisan Street. The operation, which took place in the early hours, has been detailed in a report on the Portland Police Bureau's official website, highlighting several outcomes of the mission.
The PPB's proactive tactics led to multiple stops and encounters; they executed 15 traffic stops and handed out a single citation, proving that not all stops yield significant results but showing the department's vigilance. In the process, officers encountered resistance as three vehicles initially eluded capture, however, two of these attempts were thwarted, and the drivers were subsequently apprehended.
During the operation, police located and secured a stolen vehicle. The mission resulted in three arrests on charges including outstanding warrants, eluding, and unauthorized use of a motor vehicle (UUMV). One vehicle was also towed from the scene, though the reasons for this were not disclosed in the initial report.
The PPB's efforts on 82nd Avenue are part of an ongoing initiative to improve public safety in Portland.
