Pierce County Superior Court ushers in a new era as Rebecca Reeder is set to take up the mantle in Department 4 following her recent election victory, filling the seat left open by the retiring Judge Bryan Chushcoff, according to Pierce County. Judge-Elect Reeder's tenure on the bench is scheduled to commence on January 13, with plans to participate in Judicial College later that month.
Judge-Elect Reeder's legal chops were honed first at the University of Washington where she obtained her BA in Business Administration and later at Seattle University School of Law, graduating cum laude. Since passing the bar in 1995, she's carved out a specialization in civil law, focusing on probate and family law while her early career at Miller & Dart and later as a partner at Alliance Law Group set a precedent for her practical expertise, Rebecca Reeder has also rendered her services as a Pro Tem Court Commissioner since 2002 and has been an arbitrator for personal injury cases within Pierce County Superior Court, which she's done since 2008, as detailed by Pierce County.
The mother of two sons now grown, Reeder's personal life also bears the hallmark of a passion for the outdoors, with recreational jaunts involving skiing, paddleboarding, and other activities, which she enjoys during her downtime along with traveling and spending weekends in Hood Canal with her dogs, her commitment to both her professional and personal life speaks to a balance that is perhaps emblematic of her future role on the bench where equity, diligence, and community engagement will no doubt intersect in the service of Pierce County's population.
In terms of infrastructure, Pierce County Superior Court stands as the second-largest of its kind in Washington state, an institution committed to serving residents and visitors alike with its 23 judges and 10 commissioners spread across two locations: the County-City Building and Remann Hall Juvenile Court in Tacoma, for further details on the court's operations and resources, interested parties are encouraged to visit the Pierce County Superior Court website.
