Attention drivers in Pemiscot County: You're going to need an alternate route come early February. The Missouri Department of Transportation (MoDOT) has announced that Route B will be shut down for shoulder work starting Feb. 3, through Feb. 4. The construction, which will focus on the stretch from County Road 258 to County Road 254 near Pascola, Missouri, is scheduled to run from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. on both days, MoDOT reported.
For those of you who frequent this corridor, the closure could affect your daily commute, so plan ahead. According to the same MoDOT release, this closure is weather dependent – so if the skies decide to open up, crews might pack it in. During work hours, when Route B's shoulders are getting their facelift, signs will mark the work zone – but still, motorists are advised to proceed with "extreme caution" in the vicinity. The operative word here, given the nature of road work and the unpredictability of drivers' attentions, is caution.
No detour plans have been provided by MoDOT, but savvy locals will likely find their way through the surrounding network of roads. This is a chance to get creative with your GPS or, for the old school among us, to dust off those neglected paper maps. Still, it may behoove commuters to tack on some extra minutes to their anticipated travel time, just in case.
