The City of Sacramento is hosting Access Leisure open houses, which will feature the program's adaptive sports and activities for individuals with intellectual disabilities, physical disabilities, and veterans. According to the Sacramento City Express, these events offer a chance to experience the program's impact, such as through a social bingo game where participants can enjoy both the experience of playing and the sense of community.

The first of these free events will be held tomorrow at the North Natomas Community Center, with a second session scheduled for April 5 at the Sam and Bonnie Pannell Community Center. Both events, running from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., will offer an introduction to a range of adapted sports, such as goalball and the use of sports chairs. "We’re thrilled to open our doors to the community with these fun and engaging events," Katie Houser, Recreation Manager, told the Sacramento City Express. Attendees will have the opportunity to take part in creative art activities, with light refreshments provided.

For over 50 years, Access Leisure has been a prominent resource for activity and support within the disability community in Sacramento. These open houses reflect the program's focus on creating connections and expanding opportunities for participants. Whether you're involved in the disability community or interested in adaptive recreation, these inclusive events provide a range of activities for all attendees.
