
The National Weather Service in Salt Lake City has issued a detailed forecast for the coming week, indicating a mix of rain and snow in the region. Weather data updated last at 6:35 AM MST on January 3rd suggests a partly sunny day ahead with a high near 53 degrees, however, changes are expected later tonight. A slight chance of rain transitioning into a mix of rain and snow is on the horizon, with low temperatures around 33 degrees and southeast winds from 5 to 8 mph, according to the National Weather Service.
The chance of precipitation is significant, standing at 80%, and new snow accumulation could be less than a half inch. Moving into the weekend, the forecast anticipates a 90% chance of precipitation on Saturday with rain and snow becoming all snow after 8 am, and again, less than one inch of new snow could accumulate. Despite the snow, temperatures will hold steady around 36 degrees.
As the week progresses, the weather will see more variability. Sunday brings a 20 percent chance of snow after 11 am with mostly cloudy skies and a high nearing 41 degrees. The forecast for Monday suggests a chance of snow before the afternoon, then a potential mix of rain and snow, with the chance of precipitation at 30% and little to no snow accumulation expected. Low temperatures on Monday night could drop around 26 degrees with a slight chance of rain and snow before 11 pm.
Looking further ahead, Tuesday could see a slight chance of snow before 11 am with a clearing to partly sunny skies and a high near 37 degrees. The nighttime is expected to drop to a colder 19 degrees, partly cloudy. Wednesday's high is forecasted near 35 degrees with a continuation of partly sunny conditions. The pattern carries into Thursday, which is expected to be mostly sunny with a high near 36 degrees.
