In a recent announcement by San Francisco District Attorney Brooke Jenkins, two men, Noel Guzman-Bonilla, 50, and Michael Major, 35, face multiple felony charges related to the alleged possession and sale of controlled substances in the Tenderloin neighborhood. As reported by the San Francisco District Attorney’s Office, both accused pleaded not guilty to the charges during their respective arraignments.

Guzman-Bonilla was arraigned on Monday, and Major's arraignment yesterday. Among the charges each man faces, are the utilization of a minor in drug sales (H&S 11353), and possession for sale of various narcotics including methamphetamine (H&S 11378), cocaine base (H&S 11351.5) and Xanax (H&S 11375(b)(1)). Furthermore, they are accused of having in their possession over one ounce of fentanyl, as detailed in the charges.

“My office will use the full weight of the law in the fight to close open-air drug markets and hold drug dealers accountable, especially those that would exploit juveniles in their deadly trade,” stated District Attorney Brooke Jenkins. “All levels of government must work collaboratively to break the deadly drug trade in San Francisco that is holding communities hostage.” These comments reflect the gravity with which the DA's office treats this case and the broader issues of drug trafficking within the city, as per the San Francisco District Attorney's Office.

The events leading to the arrests unfolded last Tuesday when, on the 400 block of Eddy Street, San Francisco, Police observed a juvenile in an apparent hyper-vigilant state handling suspected narcotics. According to the officers' reports, the juvenile appeared to engage with Major in handling the drugs, executing a transaction with another individual, and then relaying money to Guzman-Bonilla. Searches conducted by the police revealed a significant amount of fentanyl, cocaine, heroin, methamphetamine, Xanax, scales for measuring, and cash.

The preliminary hearing for Guzman-Bonilla and Major is set for February 7.
