In a concerted effort to address the ongoing drug crisis in San Francisco, the San Francisco Police Department (SFPD), working in coordination with multiple other agencies, arrested 59 individuals during a one-day sweep. The operation occurred on Wednesday, targeting the Tenderloin and Southern Districts and honing in on fugitives with outstanding arrest warrants. Notably, 44 out of the 59 individuals detained had warrants issued for their arrest, and some were found in possession of suspected cocaine, according to the San Francisco Police Department.
The operation was spearheaded by the city’s Drug Market Agency Coordination Center (DMACC) and executed with an armory of personnel - from the SFPD's Fugitive Recovery Enforcement Team (FRET) to the US Marshals Service and the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA). This multi-agency task force approach aims to intensify efforts in curbing the sale of illegal narcotics and ensuring the safety of city streets. The SFPD has expressed gratitude for the collaborative assistance from all the outside agencies involved, which proved crucial for the operation's success.
Despite the high number of arrests, investigations are ongoing. The SFPD encourages anyone with information about the operation or other narcotics distribution activities to come forward. Suggestions for contacting the SFPD include calling 1-415-575-4444 or texting a tip to TIP411, starting the message with SFPD.
