Wildwood residents can breathe a collective sigh of relief as waste collection services are back on the schedule after this weekend's punishing winter weather. According to an announcement on the City of Wildwood's official website, Republic Services and Gateway Disposal are shifting gears to a one-day delayed schedule starting today. Here's how the catch-up game will be played: yesterday's trash will be addressed today, today's on tomorrow, so on and so forth, with Friday’s collections moving to Saturday.
In a move to streamline operations and get the essentials squared away, the waste haulers have opted to postpone yard waste collection for the week. Gateway Disposal will resume its collection of yard scraps starting the week next Monday. Meanwhile, residents should note that for collections to happen on private streets, the roads must be cleared of the winter's wrath – that means plowed, salted, and free of ice and snow. If a waste hauler finds a roadway treacherous, they may have to pass over it, with service picking up again on the next scheduled collection date the following week.
Those living on these private byways should take heed: it's on you to ensure waste haulers can access your bins safely. An impassable street could mean a week's wait until the next garbage day. For any questions regarding the revised collection schedule or to report issues, residents are encouraged to reach out directly to the waste collection services. Republic Services can be dialed at 636-947-5959 and Gateway Disposal is on the line at 314-900-2070.
So as the city thaws out from the recent freeze, the wheels of waste management are once again turning. Now, as services resume, the importance of such essential yet unseen cogs in our daily operation becomes glaringly clear. Remember to keep those roads clear, and your trash will be taken care of in due time.
