
The San José Police Department is in the midst of an investigation regarding a recent fatal traffic collision that claimed the life of a male pedestrian. This incident, which took place on December 11, 2024, occurred at the junction of Flickinger Avenue and Hikido Drive, marking the city’s 48th traffic-related death in just one year. It was also the 19th occurrence where a pedestrian met such a fate in San José within the same time frame.
According to the San José Police Department, the events unfolded in the early evening at approximately 5:58 PM when a 2007 silver Toyota Camry, operated by an adult male driver, collided with the pedestrian. The victim, who was at the time crossing eastbound on Hikido Drive, within the designated crosswalk, sustained severe life-threatening injuries. Following the incident, the driver involved stayed at the scene and cooperated fully with the subsequent investigation.
Initial medical interventions saw the pedestrian transported to a local hospital. Despite the efforts to save him, news filtered through on Wednesday that the individual had succumbed to his injuries. He was pronounced dead on December 19, 2024, a little over a week after the accident.
The Traffic Investigations Unit of the San José Police Department has been actively gathering details and is calling on anyone with information to step forward.
