The San José Police Department has recently taken into custody two individuals allegedly involved in a July 2024 armed robbery. According to the San José Police Department, the incident took place on Alum Rock Avenue, where five suspects are accused of brandishing firearms at victims and making off with an estimated $6,000 worth of property.

As part of an ongoing investigation, Christopher Sanchez and Alex Maldonado were pinpointed as participants in the crime. With the aid of arrest and search warrants, San José PD executed the capture of suspect Sanchez in November, while Maldonado was taken into custody early this January. Found in the city of Stockton, he was later booked into Santa Clara County Main Jail on charges of armed robbery, wearing a shirt that read "Live Free" ironically on the day of his arrest.

Further searches of suspect Maldonado's residence uncovered a trove of illegal firearms, including a stolen lever action rifle, an AK-47 rifle that was unregistered, and several handguns with extended magazines that also lacked registration.

The San José Police, still in pursuit of the three other suspects involved in the robbery, have appealed to the public for assistance. Detective Williams #4766 of the San José Police Robbery Unit has urged anyone with information to come forward. Individuals with tips are encouraged to contact the detective through email at [email protected] or by phone at 408-277-4166.
