San José Police Department is currently investigating a fatal stabbing that claimed the life of an adult male and left an adult female injured on Monday. The incident, resulting in the city's 28th homicide of the year, unfolded around 7:01 PM in the 3200 Block of Payne Ave amidst a reported family disturbance.

According to a press release from the San José Police Department, the suspect, who was known to the victims, had allegedly broken into the residence and engaged in a physical altercation with them. Attempting to flee the scene on foot before the arrival of police, the suspect was caught and arrested by officers in the area.

Both victims were transported to local hospitals following the incident. The male victim, ultimately succumbing to his injuries, was pronounced deceased, while the female victim's injuries were deemed non-life-threatening. The Santa Clara County Coroner’s Office is still to disclose the identity of the deceased male victim after next of kin are notified.
