Residents of San Luis are experiencing a brighter nightscape thanks to the city's recent completion of a streetlight installation project along the 6th Avenue corridor. The project, wrapped up in December 2024, saw the addition of 20 new streetlights illuminating local streets and bolstering community safety.
In a press release issued by the City of San Luis, the improvements stem from a collaboration between the City Council, City Administration, Finance Department, Public Works, Core Engineering, and the APS team, representing a total investment of around $164,000. Local residents have reportedly welcomed the brighter streets, acknowledging the increased sense of security that comes with the improved visibility. "Installing these streetlights is part of the City’s ongoing commitment to enhance community safety and well-being," the city's statement noted.
Following this initiative, the City of San Luis isn't resting on its laurels. Two additional lighting projects are currently in the works. One will focus on the area of County 22nd Street between 4th Avenue and Sidewinder Road, and the other will target the length of 10th Avenue from Cesar Chavez Boulevard to County 22nd Street. These initiatives are part of an ongoing effort by city officials to address safety concerns and improve the quality of life for its citizens through infrastructural enhancements.
