On Monday, a routine probation search turned up more than just paperwork in Santa Rosa. According to a recent social media post by the Sonoma Sheriff’s Office, deputies detained 51-year-old Robert Penister while searching for a residence on Bellevue Avenue. Penister, well-known to the authorities as being on Post-Release Community Supervision (PRCS), had more than just his presence in the house to account for.

In the course of their investigation, deputies discovered a loaded firearm in Penister’s vicinity. A quick search also revealed suspected methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia in the same bedroom, items that have led to serious charges. "Penister was arrested for the following: felon in possession of a firearm and ammunition, possession of a controlled substance while armed, having two prior drug convictions, and a PRCS warrant," detailed the Sonoma Sheriff's Office in their statement.

As for now, he remains detained on a no-bail hold, pending future court proceedings.
