Residents in Santa Rosa are on high alert after reports of a suspicious vehicle circling the area where children typically walk home from school. The Santa Rosa Police Department, via their social media post, detailed an incident last Friday when an individual in a black Jeep SUV with noticeable body damage was seen following juveniles after school dismissal around 4:30 pm.
Witnesses claim the driver, a White male adult with light brown hair and a beard, believed to be around 25 years old, exhibited concerning behavior. Driving slowly alongside female juveniles, he reportedly made hand gestures and, at times, drove in reverse against traffic to maintain proximity to the girls. Although the driver did not verbally communicate, he attempted to engage with the juveniles by waving and playing pop music at high volumes.
The Santa Rosa Police have released a description of the suspect and are asking for the public's assistance. The man was seen driving a 2008 Jeep Cherokee, which was distinct due to the damage on its left rear quarter panel.
As part of their ongoing commitment to public safety, the SRPD Domestic Violence Sexual Assault (DVSA) team is collaborating with officers who responded to the incident, hoping to uncover any potential crimes perpetrated during the incident. Concerned citizens with any relevant information are urged to contact the SRPD DVSA tip line at 707-543-3595.
