
A security guard was wounded following a disturbance that escalated after a high school basketball game at Niles North High School in Skokie, Illinois, on Tuesday evening, ABC7 Chicago reports. According to the authorities, the guard sustained injuries from a sharp object, however, the injuries were described as non-life-threatening.
Students described the night as chaotic with a fight breaking out after the game which saw home team Niles North Vikings fall 68-64 in overtime against Evanston Township High School Wildkits, the aftermath of the incident was caught on video showing a staff member being transported into an ambulance outside the venue at 9800 Lawler Ave., a scene that suggested more than just a sporting loss but a community shaken by violence, CBS News Chicago reported.
The Skokie Police Department said they were called to the school shortly before 9:30 p.m. in response to the altercation that involved multiple individuals and resulted in the security guard's injury. While investigations continue and no arrests have been made yet, it is understood the search for the assailant remains active.
