Last night in Long Beach, a series of violent events unfolded, starting with a stabbing that occurred on the 1900 block of Walnut Avenue. According to a Long Beach Police Department report, officers responded to the incident at about 9:25 p.m. and discovered a male adult with multiple stab wounds. The victim received prompt attention from Long Beach Fire Department paramedics and was transported to a local hospital with injuries deemed non-life-threatening.
The details remain sparse, but the preliminary investigation suggests that the man was assaulted by several individuals, during which time he suffered the stab injuries that necessitated medical intervention. Nevertheless, the Long Beach Police's investigation into this violent affair is currently active and ongoing.
In a separate incident that same night, the LBPD made headlines for their proactive approach to community safety. A routine traffic stop around Long Beach Boulevard and Artesia Boulevard led officers to a discovery of a loaded firearm within the confines of a vehicle, during the early hours of Jan. 17, around 2:05 a.m.
The driver, found in possession of the firearm, was identified as a "prohibited possessor" which under the law, marks him as an individual barred from holding or owning firearms, following this determination the officers promptly arrested the suspect and as with the stabbing, the case remains firmly ensconced in the hands of the authorities investigation has yet to reach its conclusion, the LBPD noted.
