
The Georgia Department of Corrections recently provided an update regarding McRae Women's Facility. According to a press release issued Thursday, Shameka Lilliott, formerly the Unit Manager at McRae Women's Facility, has been appointed Deputy Warden of Security at the same institution, effective December 16, 2024. In her new role, Lilliott will oversee both security staff members and incarcerated female offenders.
Commissioner Tyrone Oliver praised Lilliott's work ethic and leadership skills. "Lilliott has been a dedicated team member and exceptional leader at McRae WF," Oliver said in a press release. Her promotion to Deputy Warden of Security is seen as a positive step for the facility's operations.
Lilliott's career began in 2004 with Core Civic at McRae Correctional Facility. She worked her way up from Correctional Officer to various roles including Counselor, Case Manager, and Public Information Officer, before joining McRae Women's Facility as Unit Manager in 2022. Holding a Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice, Lilliott is also pursuing a Master's Degree in Public Administration. She completed numerous departmental training programs, including Basic Correctional Officer Training and Supervision I, II, and III, positioning her as a seasoned individual within the correctional system.
With the appointment of Shameka Lilliott, the leadership at McRae Women's Facility is expected to enhance, as per the Georgia Department of Corrections press release. "We are proud to have her as a part of our team and are confident that her correctional knowledge will prove valuable to the mission and to the staff," added Commissioner Oliver, convinced of Lilliott's potential to contribute positively to the facility's mission.
