A man was left in a critical state following a shooting incident in Frayser on Friday morning. Officials from the Memphis Police Department reported that they responded to the scene at 3226 Thomas Street around 11:16 a.m., only to find that the victim was not at the site, as per WREG. Shortly thereafter, another call guided officers to the 3200 block of Ridgecrest Street, where they located a man suffering from gunshot wounds.
The injured man was emergency-transported to Regional One Hospital, where he remains in critical condition. In an unfolding investigation, Memphis Police have since detained not just the injured party but another man as well, suggesting the possibility that the two incidents are linked, although specifics on how exactly have not been made clear by authorities. This development was also reported by FOX13 Memphis, noting that the initial location corresponded with the address of Gordin's Foods & Butcher Shoppe. However, no victims were found at that origin point.
Further clarifying the duality of the scene, Local Memphis stated that the two sites of incidence were believed to be connected. The report also highlighted that the man assaulted and later hospitalized is one of the two individuals presently in custody.
The Memphis Police Department hasn't yet provided a motive or full context behind the shooting, and they are reaching out for support from the public for any leads. Anyone with information is asked to call CrimeStoppers at 901-528-CASH immediately.
