In a troubling development from Sonoma County, authorities have arrested a 38-year-old man for the alleged murder of his father. The Sonoma Sheriff's Department stated on social media that Cody Molica of Santa Rosa confessed to the shooting yesterday, implicating his mother as an accessory to the crime. Deputies arrived at their Stony Point Road residence to discover 80-year-old Richard Molica deceased from a gunshot wound.
The investigation, now in the hands of the Violent Crime and Crime Scene units, comes on the heels of an earlier conflict between the family members last Tuesday. Cody had been arrested on elder abuse charges after an argument where it is alleged he pushed his father, causing injuries, and also threatened to kill both of his parents and himself. However, despite the severity of these allegations, Cody was released pre-arraignment the following day, with certain conditions restricting contact and the possession of firearms.
Beverly Molica, the 72-year-old mother, was located and detained in Vallejo before being taken in for questioning by Narcotics Unit detectives. In a grim turn of events just a week after Cody's release, Cody and Beverly Molica now face serious charges. Cody has been booked for murder and conspiracy with no option for bail, while Beverly faces charges of conspiracy and being an accessory to the crime.
