South Milwaukee residents can now manage their water utility bills through a new online portal called Our Community Connect. The portal allows users to pay bills, check balances, and choose paperless billing, among other features.
According to the City of South Milwaukee website, to sign up, customers must create an account using an email address, a strong password, verify the email promptly to avoid expiration of the link, and provide their customer number and the amount of their last bill. Payments made through this portal will incur a convenience fee based on the total amount owed. The fees are $1.00 for payments via checking/savings accounts and 2.95% + $0.30 per transaction for credit or debit card payments.
Users can opt for text notifications for account alerts by providing a cell phone number during sign-up, although standard message and data rates may apply. If there are issues with registration or using the portal in dark mode on mobile devices, the city suggests turning off dark mode or using a PC or laptop. To unlink an email from the Water Utility Account, customers must contact the South Milwaukee Water Utility directly.
