Residents of Southeast Shelby County can breathe a bit easier as local law enforcement has cracked down on a spate of burglaries that cast a shadow over the community during the holiday season and into the new year. The man alleged to be behind the break-ins, identified as 38-year-old Ricky Pointer, is now in custody following a multi-agency endeavor.

According to the official Shelby County Sheriff's Office Facebook page, Pointer was apprehended yesterday morning. The arrest coup de grâce came after a series of investigations linking him to a series of home burglaries, between December 21, 2024, and last Thursday. This announcement caps off a month-long operation that spanned multiple jurisdictions and involved several law enforcement agencies including Desoto County Sheriff's Office, their Fugitive Team, and the Horn Lake Police Department.

Law enforcement's coordinated effort came to a head when they executed a search warrant at a residence on Waverly Drive in Horn Lake, MS, just days before Pointer's arrest. During the raid, detectives seized two vehicles, a GMC Acadia, and a white Chrysler 300, the vehicles implicated in the crimes. A trove of stolen firearms and other evidence directly related to the burglaries were also recovered.

"We want to extend a special thanks to the Desoto County Sheriff's Office for their critical assistance in this month-long investigation," Sheriff Bonner stated on the Facebook post. The collaboration wasn't just pivotal, it was a testament to the power of inter-agency cooperation in the face of shared adversity. Pointer faces a litany of charges, including three counts of Aggravated Burglary; he also has additional warrants for evasions of law enforcement in Desoto County, and through the Collierville Police Department.

This is not the final chapter in this case, as Ricky Pointer will face additional charges from both the Shelby County Sheriff's Office and the Desoto County Sheriff's Office.
