Just before the arrival of the New Year in Pacheco, a woman's car met a wet fate. According to ABC7 News, the incident occurred on Tuesday night when the woman, reportedly speeding along Pacheco Boulevard, struck a fire hydrant with such force that her vehicle took a 300-foot flight and crashed into Grayson Creek.
Firefighters responding to the scene found most of the car submerged. Racing against the clock, they managed to extract the woman from her precarious position and reportedly out of the water quickly. While the victim's state had not been publicly detailed at the time, NBC Bay Area later reported that she was listed in critical condition.
A broken fire hydrant flooded the area, sending water into nearby businesses. The extent of the damage is unknown, but cleanup was likely significant.
