St. Louis police are on the hunt for a man accused of a brazen daytime robbery attempt that quickly escalated into assault. The incident went down earlier this month, on January 4, at Shicker Ford located in the 3300 block of S. Kingshighway, and detectives are turning to the public for help in identifying the suspect whose images have been captured on the premises.
The sequence of events unfolded when the man expressed interest in purchasing a vehicle and subsequently requested to test drive one. It was during the test drive that the individual made an attempted to abscond with the car without rendering payment. An employee who confronted the would-be thief was met with violence, as the suspect threw a punch that left the worker with a minor lip injury before the suspect aborted the theft and fled the scene on foot.
The St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department described the suspect as a black male, estimated to be in his early 40s, with a height somewhere between 5'7" and 5'9". At the time, he was seen sporting a black skull cap, black pants, a blue coat and brown boots. The authorities hope that the public can aid in bringing this individual to justice.
