Residents across St. Louis are facing a chill in the air this morning, with temperatures currently sitting at 29 degrees Fahrenheit, as reported by the National Weather Service, St. Louis, MO. The weather is predominantly cloudy but is expected to clear up as the day progresses. By afternoon, the skies should be mostly sunny, with a modest high of around 34 degrees. A light breeze is forecasted, with wind shifting from variable to a southerly flow at 5 to 8 mph.
As the sun sets, the clouds are anticipated to roll back in, and the temperature is predicted to dip to a low near 25 degrees. The south wind will persist at around 8 mph, although it may reach gusts as high as 20 mph. Heading into Sunday, the skies are expected to remain mostly cloudy, with a high nearing 37 degrees and similar gusts of wind. A shift will occur in the afternoon as the wind turns westerly, yet the cloud cover appears relentless through to Sunday night, when we'll see temperatures fall to about 17 degrees, according to the NWS.
Looking ahead to Monday, the forecast suggests a breakthrough with plenty of sunshine and a high near 24 degrees. However, despite the clear skies during the day, the nighttime will bring a drop in temperatures down to around 11 degrees. The following days are forecasted to follow suit, with sun-dominated skies and highs hovering in the low 20s. By nighttime, the temperature is expected to plummet once more, dropping to the single digits by Tuesday night.
Midweek projections by the NWS imply a slight warming trend with highs gradually increasing from 29 degrees on Wednesday to a near 38 by Thursday. Though nighttime temperatures will remain frosty, they show an upward trend as well, setting at around 18 degrees Wednesday night and reaching 28 by Thursday night. The week is set to end on a higher note, with Friday's daytime temperatures climbing to a cozy 43 degrees under mostly sunny skies, offering a much-welcomed respite from the early week's cold grip.
