A St. Louis woman has been sentenced to 10 years in prison after pleading guilty to involuntary manslaughter in a case involving a fatal shooting that occurred back in 2023. Tiffany L. Richardson, 27, entered her plea yesterday for the July 20, 2023 incident that took the life of 52-year-old George Robins, according to St. Louis City Circuit Court records.
The shooting took place on the 1300 block of Shawmut Place within the Hamilton Heights neighborhood, in which Robins sustained fatal gunshot wounds and another individual was injured. Initially charged with first-degree murder among other felonies, Richardson's charges were reduced as part of a plea deal that dismissed five other felony counts. Details emerged that the incident followed an argument where someone hurled an object at a Hyundai Santa Fe, breaking a window and subsequently resulting in gunfire from the vehicle.
Richardson's attorney, Robert Taaffe, pointed to evidence of two different calibers of shell casings discovered at the scene, suggesting that another shooter might have been present amongst Robins' group. "A jury would have had to decide who fired first," Taaffe said in a statement obtained by St. Louis City Circuit Court, hinting at the complexity surrounding the case and the events that unfolded that day. Richardson was a passenger in the Hyundai when she allegedly fired into the group.
Robinson's trial was previously set for this week before Circuit Judge Katherine M. Fowler, but the plea agreement altered the course of the proceedings. Case number for Richardson is 2422-CR01367-01.
