The city of Surprise is offering a Motorcycle Safety Class for experienced riders looking to sharpen their on-the-road skills. Scheduled for Sunday, February 2, from 7:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., this event is set in the expansive confines of the Surprise Stadium parking lot, located at 15850 N. Bullard Ave.
Participants in the class will have the opportunity to engage with safety product information and demonstrations and partake in vital discussions regarding the realities of motorcycle safety. Additionally, an interactive course will be available giving riders a chance to put their newly acquired knowledge to test through practical exercises, structured to simulate and navigate common riding hazards. According to a city announcement, this hands-on approach is integral to developing an optimal response to dangerous riding situations.
Prospective attendees are required to bring their own motorcycle and helmet, and must possess a valid driver's license complete with a motorcycle endorsement to participate. It is crucial to understand that this class does not serve as a means for new riders to obtain said endorsement but rather as an advanced course for those already traversing the expanse upon two wheels, as mentioned by the city's official announcement.
Interested individuals are guided to apply online through the city’s website. However, be aware that space is finite, and registration will close upon reaching capacity. Successfull applicants will receive notification confirming their participation prior to the commencement of the exercise-funded class. This initiative is brought to life by the generous contribution from the Governor’s Office of Highway Safety, with additional support and partnership from the Arizona Motorcycle Safety and Awareness Foundation as well as RideNow Powersports Chandler.
