The New Orleans Police Department has apprehended a suspect following a homicide that took place last Tuesday, at the intersection of North Galvez Street and Elysian Fields Avenue, resulting in the death of a 38-year-old man. The incident, a midday shooting, left the man with multiple gunshot wounds, and he was pronounced dead at the scene by emergency medical services, as reported by the New Orleans Police Department.
According to New Orleans Police Department News, the victim was identified by the Orleans Parish Coroner as Geron Elzie, age 38. Following an investigation by Homicide Unit detectives, Marvin Banks, a Black male born on January 28, 1996, has been arrested in connection with the murder. The arrest took place in the Seventh District by New Orleans Police Department's Violent Crime Abatement Investigative Team (VCAIT) in coordination with the Louisiana State Police Troop B and the LSP's Bureau of Investigations.
Banks is now charged with second degree murder and has been booked into the Orleans Parish Justice Center.
