A teen is now in the hospital after an apparent shooting in Miami, with Miami Police responding to the 2200 block of Northwest 23rd Street following reports of the incident. When police arrived, they found a teenager who had been shot. The injured teen was quickly transported to Jackson Memorial Hospital. While the severity of their injuries remains uncertain, NBC Miami notes that the victim was hit in the leg by gunfire.

Additionally, a group of juveniles, suspected to be linked to the shooting were found by police near the scene. Upon the officers' approach, these juveniles scattered in multiple directions; some ran away on foot, others rode off on bikes, and some even leaped over the walls of nearby homes attempting to evade capture. According to the police scanner communications heard over Broadcastify, one officer radioed, "One bailed. I’m going to go after the one with the hoodie," as noted by WSVN. Some of the young suspects were later apprehended by the police. An officer was heard broadcasting: “[…]Clear. Subject detained. Subject detained. Black hoodie, black pants, black bike, white male,” signaling the successful detainment of at least one individual.

The investigation also led to the recovery of a weapon that had been discarded into a swimming pool around a half-mile from the scene of the shooting. Police were filmed retrieving the gun and it became a central part of the ongoing forensic analysis. A neighbor, whose interview was conducted in Spanish, showed surprise at the upheaval, telling WSVN, “It’s been three years since we’ve been parking here and I’ve never seen a problem. Now that I came to get my car and see all of this here it’s strange because it was always calm here.” The exact count of the juveniles involved, and how many were detained, has not been made clear.

As the investigation unfolds, authorities are examining both crime scenes. Miami-Dade Crime Stoppers is reaching out to the community for any information related to this crime, and informants may stay anonymous and could be eligible for a reward of up to $5,000 for valuable tips.
