In the early hours of Friday morning, a 15-year-old boy, whose identity remains undisclosed due to his age, was seriously injured in a distressing incident on the Southwest Side of Chicago. The young teen was in the 7100 block of South Kedzie Avenue in the Chicago Lawn neighborhood when he inadvertently discharged a handgun, shooting himself in the left forearm, as reported by the Chicago Sun-Times.

The gunshot wound led to the boy being rushed to Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn, where he arrived in what was described as fair condition although immersed in the sudden violence that struck his young life, no arrests have been made thus far in connection to the unsettling event and area detectives are delving into the circumstances surrounding the shot fired. According to WGN-TV, the incident occurred around 1:45 a.m.

As of the last update, police have not suggested that any other parties were involved in the mishap.
