A robbery incident at the Budget Inn motel in the Wells/Goodfellow neighborhood led to a high-speed pursuit and the subsequent arrest of three individuals. The St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department's District 5 officers are currently investigating the robbery, which took place yesterday, as reported in the 3600 block of Hamilton.
The victim, a 26-year-old man, had invited a woman he met online to his motel room. Shortly after her arrival, around 3 p.m., two men knocked on the door, which the woman opened, allowing them entry. "One of the male suspects produced a handgun, pointed it at him, and then took his belongings, pants, and car keys," the victim recounted to SLMPD law enforcement. The trio then fled in the man’s Nissan.
The stolen Nissan was later spotted by officers from the 6th District near West Florissant and I-70, with Real Time Crime Center assistance. The ensuing car chase ended on the McKinley Bridge, where the Nissan collided with a Mitsubishi, causing injuries to two occupants of the latter.
The three suspects — a 46-year-old man, a 39-year-old man, and a 31-year-old woman — were apprehended after exiting the Nissan. They were deemed fit for confinement following a medical assessment at a hospital before being taken into custody. The investigation by the St. Louis PD continues into the circumstances surrounding this bold mid-afternoon heist.
