A vehicle fire on Gateway East near Trowbridge in El Paso caused not only significant damage to the vehicle involved but also serious injuries to three people on Saturday afternoon. The El Paso Fire Department and El Paso Police Department responded promptly to the incident. According to KFOX-TV, two of the individuals suffered serious burns.
Details on the origin of the fire are still under investigation as the authorities work to determine the cause. KVIA reported that the fire was brought under control by fire crews who were called to the scene at Gateway East and Cleveland at approximately 3:47 p.m. Despite the swift action of the fire department, the fire and subsequent emergency response efforts led to considerable traffic disruptions.
Traffic was significantly impacted, as all lanes were closed at the intersection of Gateway East and Trowbridge following the incident. The Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) advised motorists to seek alternative routes, suggesting a detour at Yandell. Additionally, KTSM noted that the exit from I-10 East at Trowbridge was also closed, exacerbating traffic congestion in the area.
