The Town of Davie Mayor's Scholarship Fund for 2025 is officially open for business, accepting applications until Friday, March 28. Announced by the town's government, the scholarship provides a financial leg-up for students aspiring to enter fields such as public safety, law, and other public service-related careers.
A total of two deserving students will receive a $500 scholarship to help fuel their educational pursuits. Eligibility is straightforward: You've got to be a permanent resident of Davie, be enrolled in a local school – whether public or private – and you should have scored a minimum unweighted GPA of 3.0. As reported by the Town of Davie's announcement, applicants must send their documents electronically.
Qualifying students need to craft a letter of intent declaring their career interests, followed by a resume, a list of colleges they've applied to or been accepted by, and any relevant public service experiences they've had. Add to that, two letters of recommendation that aren't from a family member but from someone who has known them at least four years. The application is limited to four pages.
All the nitty-gritty application documents should land in Mayor Judy Paul's inbox by the deadline, and will then face the scrutiny of the Town’s Youth, Education and Safety Advisory Committee. The scholarships destinataries will be revealed on April 11, and subsequently recognized in a ceremony at the Town Council meeting a few days later on April 16.
