Travelers in Anderson County are facing disruptions after a section of State Route 116, also known as Briceville Highway, succumbed to a roadway slide near Grave Hill Missionary Baptist Church, causing a partial collapse yesterday. The Tennessee Department of Transportation (TDOT) has confirmed that the slide prompted immediate action, with geotechnical engineers called to the scene to assess the stability and integrity of the affected roadway, as reported by WVLT.
In response to the collapse, TDOT has implemented traffic control measures to ensure the safety of motorists traveling along this stretch. TDOT spokesperson Mark Nagi announced that barriers and temporary traffic signals will be installed to manage the flow of vehicles, and, while the situation is being handled, a lane closure is expected to remain until the slide can be duly repaired, as per a report by both WATE and Newstalk987.
