On Monday next week, President-elect Donald Trump will be sworn in as the 47th president of the United States in a traditional ceremony, followed by an inaugural parade. The parade will include nearly 7,500 participants from 23 states, according to CBS12. Two groups from Palm Beach County, the Florida Firefighters Pipes and Drum from Boca Raton and the Palm Beach Police & Fire Honor Guard Unit, will represent Florida in the parade.
The event will begin around noon ET on the west front of the United States Capitol. The inauguration coincides with Martin Luther King Jr. Day, blending a federal holiday with the nation’s democratic traditions. Those wishing to attend in person can obtain tickets through members of Congress, while viewers in Florida can watch remotely, as reported by The Palm Beach Post.
The inaugural parade will feature a diverse range of groups, including high school bands, military units, equestrian teams, and first responders, according to a list published by NBC New York.
The Joint Congressional Committee on Inaugural Ceremonies (JCCIC) is responsible for planning the day's events, which go beyond the swearing-in ceremony. The celebrations will include the inaugural address and a pass in review, a military tradition honoring the peaceful transfer of power. Those wishing to attend in person can request tickets through Congressional representatives, as the JCCIC is distributing a limited number.
