
A tragic incident unfolded in rural Will County as a collision involving a garbage truck claimed the lives of two individuals and left four others injured. According to ABC7 Chicago, the crash occurred near the intersection of Offner Road and Route 45 near Manhattan, Illinois, around 11:19 a.m. on Thursday.
The Illinois State Police, who are actively investigating to determine the cause of the accident, have yet to officially release the identities or ages of those tragically killed or injured. First responders at the scene found two passenger vehicles and a garbage truck involved in the crash, which prompted authorities to quickly transport the injured to hospitals.
In a report by WGN-TV, it was disclosed that the roadway where the accident took place was closed following the incident. This allowed emergency crews and investigators to meticulously handle the scene and begin piecing together the events leading to the crash. This closure also aimed at ensuring the safety of the investigators and any passersby.
